Trumpeter's Lullaby

The art of trumpet playing.. so musical, so graceful, beautiful, and oh so frustrating. This is the journey of my trumpet studies; my quest for perfection, or just good tone.

First Post = My Prime Directive...

Here is a brief introduction to myself and my trumpet.. I am a university student studying music, on -you guessed it- the trumpet. Right now my ultimate goal is my Third Year Recital coming up on March 7th; Apparently it is only 41 days away.. that makes me a little nervous.

So, that brings me to the reason for starting this blog; I shall use it as a trumpet journal, rant about what I'm working on, what is annoying me, how things are coming, and so on and so forth. My hope is that I will practice even more, and take a more active interest in my playing.
Do I think anyone will read this? probably not, it may not be the most exciting to anyone else, but oh well. It's important to me and that is all that matters. If you do find it atleast a little interesting, you can follow my success on this journey (atleast I hope it will end with success).

My Recital Program is: Rondo for Lifey- by Leonard Bernstein, Eb Trumpet Concerto- by Hummel, and Sonata- by Beversdorf.

I'll begin with today's accomplishments: I practiced the second movement of the Hummel Trumpet Concerto, especially the trills some of them are very tricky. Trilling between C and D does not generally go well for me, but it is way better than last year. I also spent some time this evening running through the opening of the Sonata, that one will be tricky... I should stop for now.. lol this could be a long post eitherwise.

It was a good day, even though my lips feel very raw right now :( booo to that.. The winter weather does not help at all.
