Trumpeter's Lullaby

The art of trumpet playing.. so musical, so graceful, beautiful, and oh so frustrating. This is the journey of my trumpet studies; my quest for perfection, or just good tone.

Practice Makes Perfect.. ugh...

Well, I certainly did a lot of playing yesterday! 1.5 hour band rehersal, then I practiced for another hour at the university.. After some supper I ran a few things at home too. It's frustrating when you spend atleast 20minutes on only 8 bars!!! The good news those bars have definetly approved; If anyone is familiar with the Hummel it is in the 3rd movement where there is a series of two sixteenth notes followed by a C with a nice little turn on it. Up until now I've been scared of this section, positive that it was impossible for me to do.. Now I am feeling more confident but it still needs tons and tons of work. I practiced nearly everything I wanted to yesterday, I didn't do the vibrato.. oops! I really should try that today as well.

Today's goals: practice 2nd movement of Hummel; 2nd movement of the Beversdorf Sonata; some clarke's studies; and multiple tonguing exercises; oh yes, and tricky parts in the 3rd movement of the Hummel.
